The above answer is ridiculous. To assume that the world as a whole shares our eating habits is isanely ignorant. Each person eats chicken and beef a few times a week? lol, right.

The United States alone consumed BILLIONS, yes with a "B" chickens per year. One producer alone "produces" over 2 Billion chickens per year.. Factory farm chickens are genetically altered and pumped full of growth hormones so that they grow three times as fast as a regular chicken. The live in cages with upto 72 square INCHES of space, often less. Most have the ends of their beeks seared off without anesthetic so that they don't peck at the other animals. Most never see the light of day.

You don't want to know about cows and pigs, or the pollution caused by these massive concentrations of animals.

Factory farming in the united states is outrageous on every level.

Probibly Millions per day for the world...and millions a week for the US...

Find out how many people live in the world and then take out 1% for the vegan/vegiarians...then figure that they eat either beef of chicken a few times a week...and multiply it out...have fun...

A lot. And they sure do taste good!!!

We as so lucky to have so much good food to eat. It's great to be at the top of the food chain.

Of course, later we are eaten by microbes and bugs, so I guess what comes around, goes around.
