First of all, my thanks should go to those who have given me help. As a Chinese teaching English in my home country, I highly value your kind help.

It seems that most of us have agreed on Questions 1, 2, and 3, but opinions are still divided on Questions 4, 5, and 6. So I am expecting more answers to the last three questions!! Thank you a million times!

1. D, D is in the present tense and the radio presently doesnt work, "wont work" can be used, but it doesnt sound as good
2. A, B has unnecessary words, B and C are in the wrong context.
3. A, B and D are grammatically incorrect and C has too much information, we English speakers like to keep it as simple as possible.
4. None are correct, the correct term would be half of his income. The words all and half should never go together, it's redundant.
5. A. the description is present so it must be kept present, and the word "had" is not necessary. Also the word "and" is missing, and yes the sentence is slightly off, I would have written it: "I was about to get off the bus, and the man next to me sat on it."
6. B, we dont say "from" we say "after" and the word "which" is very ambiguous.

1—Can I help you, sir?
  —Yes. I bought this radio here yesterday, but it ________.
  A. didn't work    B. won't work
  C. can't work     D. doesn't work
Which one? Why?

Answer = D.
Explanation - He bought it yesterday (past tense) but is returning it today (important) and explaining that the radio "does not work" (present tense). For instance if he had mentioned that he tried it yesterday(past tense) then he would proceed to say that it didn't work (also past tense)

2 ________be sent to work there ?
A. Who do you suggest B. Who do you suggest that should
C. Do you suggest who should D. Do you suggest whom should
A or B? Why?

Answer = A
Explanation = The English langauge is not fond of cumbersome sentences, it would be a far more practical to answer A.

3 —George and Lucy got married last week . Did you go to their wedding ?
—No , I ______. Did they have a big wedding ?
A.was not invited B.have not been invited
C.hadn’t been invited D.didn’t invite
A or C? Why?

Answer = A
Explanation = Very difficult to explain why, in fact both could be considered to be correct.

4 The husband gave his wife ________ every month in order to please her.
A. all half his income B. his half all income
C. half his all income D. all his half income
Which one? Why?

Answer = ?
Explanation = This is funny, I am curious to know who wrote these exam questions? In fact, all for of these answers are completely incorrect. The husband can only give either, all his income or half his income, but certainly not possiblities A through C

5 — What’s wrong with your coat?
— Just now when I wanted to get off the bus, the man next to me ____ on it.
A. sat B. had sat C. had been sitting D. was sitting
Which one? Is there anything wrong with this sentence?

Answer = D
Explanation = Even although we are speaking in the present tense the use of "just now" refers to the past tense, therefore the man was sitting on his jacket. There is, however a problem with the sentence. The use of "just now" is incorrect. I would have rather said - When I wanted to get off the bus earlier, the man next to me was sitting on it.

6 He was educated at a local grammar school, ________ he went on to Cambridge.
A. from which B. after that
C. after which D. from this
Which one? Why?

Answer = C
Explanation = C can be used, however, typical English grammar would suggest to remove the comma (and the word "he") and simply add the word "and" to join the two statements.

I hope this helps!

#1 ANSWER IS D BECAUSE IT IS PAST TENSE AND HE DIDN'T KNOW THE RADIO DIDN'T WORK WHEN PURCHASED. "DIDN'T WORK" IMPLIES PURCHASER KNEW PRIOR TO BUYING. "WON'T WORK" IMPLIES THE ITEM HAS A CHOICE ON THE MATTER. AND "CAN'T WORK" IMPLIES IT'S KNOWLEDGE OF WHY IT WON'T WORK.

#2 ANSWER IS A "WHO DO YOU SUGGEST." REASON IS ALL THE OTHER CHOICES JUST HAVE TO MANY UNNEEDED WORDS. EXAMPLE "WHO DO YOU SUGGEST THAT SHOULD" THAT SHOULD IS A DECLARITVE STAEMENT THAT DOESN'T BELONG IN A QUESTION.

#3 ANSWER IS A "WAS NOT INVITED." C IS NO GOOD, HADN'T IS TOO MUCH PAST TENSE. IT'S A QUESTION MORE OF HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED. HADN'T WOULD WORK IF THE WEDDING WAS A YEAR AGO.

#4 ANSWER IS NONE OF THESE. THE CORRECT STATEMENT TO USE IS "HALF OF HIS INCOME" THE OTHERS JUST ARE WORDED TOTALY WRONG AND MAKE NO SENSE.

#5 ANSWER IS A "SAT" NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SENTENCE. THE OTHER ANSWERS ARE AGAIN TOO WORDY. THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS CONSTANTLY TRYING TO GET THE POINT ACROSS USING LESS WORDS TO DO IT. LIKE SLANG OR ABBREVIATIONS LIKE "FYI" INSTEAD OF SAYING -FOR YOUR INFORMATION-.

#6 ANSWER IS C "AFTER WHICH" THIS ONE IS MOST APPROPRIATE BECAUSE IT SHOWS COMPLETION. IT'S LIKE SAYING HE FINISHED THIS, THEN MOVED ON TO THE NEXT THING. "AFTER THAT" WOULD WORK AS WELL BUT IS LESS FORMAL A STATEMENT.

The correct answers, in my opinion are:
1.D
2. A
3.A
4. None. It should be 'half his income'. Half of all his income, etc., is not something a native English speaker would say. Too much info.
5. D
6. C

As for the why's, there are good and proper grammer explanations, but English is a little like French that way. I asked my native French brother-in-law how he automatically knows which words are male and which are female to use "le" or 'la'.

"I just do," he shrugged. While I the non-native French person, have to memorize them.
