at the time you think...this is terrible ..why did this happen to me. Then somewhere down the road..maybe a year later you look back and realize there was a very specific reason that happened. Did it make you start to believe in that age old adage...Everything happens for a reason. Did it make you believe in fate?

Yes...I believe 100% in fate...I have had this argument with people over and over. Someone will say something like...no, I could have done this...but I chose to do this. Regardless of the fact, it is still the fate that has been predetermined.

Anything that can be argued against it makes no sense...because that is what was MEANT to happen. The path getting there isn't always a pretty one, but it is the one that is supposed to happen...Does that mean we are mindless robots wandering through time?...To an extent, yes. The good thing about it is...we don't KNOW where fate will take us. That is a good thing however...because we are a weak species and would take the easier road most of the time...

I like the Garth Brooks song "The Dance" just for that reason...I could have missed the pain...but I'da had to miss the dance.

So yes...the bad things that have happened in My life made Me who I am today...and I wouldn't change any single one of them...because I wouldn't be Me.

The contectedness and meaning of the events in our lives allways look clearer in hindsight. Perhaps this is because we are able to rationalize our lives...to force order on an otherwise random universe. It gives us security and peace of mind as well as an ability to accept harsh and unpleasant events.

That said, it is equally true that who we are now is the result of our experiences so tracing back causal events is easy and valid. Had I turned left instead of right last year I might now be 6' under the ground.

Perhaps there are infinite universes in which every decision is represented. The trouble I have with that infinite universe proposition is that it is awfully vain for us to think the universe replicates itself everytime "I" make a decision. Seems like only God would have that power...we are just animated bits of molecules that briefly flicker in the night sky.

So in the final analysis, I admit that the pessimistic view is probably right, but since I really am only here a brief moment its okay to manufacture my own solace and comfort myself at night believing that there is a purpose and the events of my life are there for a reason. After all, who do I hurt by choosing to believe we are important?

You're not alone. That happens to me ALL THE TIME. Didn't use to believe it, although my mom told me "everything happens for a reason" I didn't really get it, but now I do. Wish I can give you more specifics but it's too personal to lay it out on the net, but let's just say that so far, almost all of of my past dissapointments turned out to be blessings for me whether it's career or relationships (family/friend/lover) or freak accidents related... the ones that haven't turned up to be blessings WILL BE one of these days... that's all I know. Keep the faith girl!

I would have to say that when things like that happen whether it may be good or bad happens for a reason. We me not be able to see that specific reason why this happens to us but I think its not that we cant see the reason I think its that we choose not to.

Even though we know the saying: "THINGS DON'T ALWAYS GO YOUR WAY" we tend to forget about it.

I am always amazed how events in our lives take us from point A to point B and when you look back over several of these events and look at where you are today, you quickly see that there is no way you would be where you are today if anyone of the events did not take place.

Yes, I lost my job back in December. I didn't really like that job, but it paid decent.

Then I found the job I have now and the plant I worked at recently announced they were closing their doors and everyone is out.

when my momm died, i asked God y he took her back so early.. we werent prepared 4 that.. she wasnt seriously ill.. she had health problems but nothing major.

after a year, i realized that God did that 2 make our family alot closer 2 each other.. God made me more responsible & more family centered.. he made our bond stronger...

i've always believed that everything happens 4 a reason.. despite our loss, im happy coz i know my mom's in a better & happier place.. free of worries, problems & illness...

No fate but what we make of our lives. The only thing certain is eventual death.

Sometimes problems seem impossible to recover from, but no matter what life throws at you, it is possible to bounce back and even come back stronger and better.
