In Europe, tourism abroad is quite common place. Heavily discounted flights and holiday packages make it possible for the working class families to see the world. Spain is a popular destination for the English, Portugal is a popular destination of the English and the Germans. On the other hand, Portuguese, Spanish Italians and French, for example like to visit the colder countries of the north of Europe and holidays beyond Europe are becoming more common place to all Europeans. A return 15-hour flight from London to the exotic lands of Manila in the Philippines or Hong Kong cost a mere £450 at the most. With the advent of the giant AirBus 380, 4 times the passenger capacity of the B747, the cost of flying is likely to decrease even further. DISCUSS. Thanks

I come from a very large working class family and few of my
family has gone abroad. It is educational to travel I wish our
government would work towards making travel easier, and safer.
This is a good question.

the cost of living here is outrageous. You cant buy a decent house in new jersey will 3 bedrooms and some land for less than a quarter of a million dollars. The minimum wage is like $5.25 or something. Until americans get paid more, or prices go down we are stuck here. Plus this country is HUGE, so why waste the money we do make going to other countries when communities HERE need it.
I jsut picture london as a dirty place where its always raining. I really love my country.. im PROUD to be american and I would rather stay here than risk getting blow up in a car bomb because my president is an effin a hole.

American "holidays" are shorter than the Eurpoean ones. Most workers in the us have only 1 or 2 weeks of vacation per year, so that does cut travel for some.
But I would say that we do see outside the USA. I have been to Mexico several times, and we are planning a trip now to Jamaica.
I think because the USA is so big, that makes the travel different. You can go one state over & it's sometimes like being in a whole other country, different foods, different climate, different attractions, etc.

If you look at the numbers of international travelers, you will find that Americans do travel as much as Europeans, if not more... maybe the working class travels less, but so do all working classes irresespective of the counrty of residence. Since you are mentioning cheap airfares, keep in mind that we get great fares to S. America, Mexico and Carribean.

because real capitalism calls for permitting human beings to be loose to make their personal judgements. Even our usa is slipping horribly. There are too many authorities classes that hand out money to those who choose no longer to make contributions to society. There are authorities regulations that stress agencies to pay better than not straight forward paintings is worth or charge decrease than the marketplace will undergo. this isn't real capitalism. yet, united statesa. continues to be the most appropriate element going. those who do no longer like it are one hundred% loose to renounce their citizenship and stay elsewhere. Why do not those who believe in Communism flow to a communist usa?

I live in Europe and most of the tourists I encounter are guess what? Americans, yes, maybe not always working class, they always seem to be from more populated states like East coast or West Coast, I hardly meet anyone from states like UTAH or IDAHO. I think a lot of the americans who live on the east coast or west coast come from european descent, polish, irish, english, scottish, german, italian etc,and many of these are interested in retracing their ancestry, but also many of these are retired folk.

We don't see outside the USA because we dont' have the money to go flying about the world and Europe has many countries close together so you can do more global hopping however sometimes going to diffrent reigons in the USA is like going to another country culturally lol.
