I personally don't consider Morocco dangerous nor disease ridden. As long as you are sensible (i.e. don't eat fresh fruit from a dodgy street seller or walk around Casablanca's poorer neighbourhoods in the evening) and respectful of local customs (women should keep their arms and ankle covered if they don't want to offend, alcohol should be consumed discretely if at all) you will find a country that is open and welcoming with warm, friendly and respectful people. But even if you dont, you will at no time will be at risk of getting attacked or harrassed, but you will not be respected. If you go to Agadir, don't be surprised to find everything you never expected in a Muslim country and nothing you would find interesting - you might as well travel to Mallorca. Thing that I recommend are:
- Place Djemaa el Fna in Marrakesh (however, be on the lookout for pickpockets and people trying to sell you things - I had a woman just grab my hand, paint a flower on it and then demand money; however, when I refused she smiled and left...no harm in trying,ey?)
- The Tanneries in Fez (this is one of the few occasions when you should get a guide; they know the good spots to see it all)
- At least one souk (= market) (if you do not speak French and feel uncomfortable communicating using your hands and feet, you might want to take a guide. Otherwise, be adventurous and get yourself lost. You will see more (the guides are on commission so they will lead you to certain stalls only) and have a more authentic and exciting experience.)
- Essaouira, if you love the beach, seafood and wind surfing (but remember, the water of the Atlantic is still quite cold).
- The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (This is the second biggest mosque in the world an quite a sight. It is only one of two mosques in Morocco that are open to non-Muslim visitors. I personally only saw it from the outside because I feel that there is a reason others are closed to me, so why impose myself?)
- Have a bowl of Harira soup. It's lovely! (I lived on almost nothing else for 3 weeks...)
- Have a glas of mint tea. This is another true Moroccan specialty that should not be missed.
- Try their lovely little pastries made of almondy or nutty pastry covered in sugar syrup. They're great with a strong Moroccan coffee.
- If your stomach is not too sensitive, have lots of freshly squeezed juice. (I had a huge glass every day and did not need the Immodiums I had brought, but as the person above said, some people do get ill when travelling to foreign countries.)
- Get a copy of the Lonely Planet guide. The Morocco edition is great.

the best thing to do is to learn a few arabic phrases, such as
La Shukran ( no thank you)
Sabah el khier ( good morning)
Allah Imshee ( go away please) or ( go with god)
the people are very nice but these few phrases will save a lot of hassle from street sellers etc.
have a nice time and try to go to the market in Jhema Al Finah square marrakesh
