Check out this site:
http://www.zan1011.com/paper.htm

It looks like its approximately:
11.69 x 16.54

11.69 X 200dpi = 2338 pixels in width.
16.54X100dpi = 1654 pixels in height.

Remember, actual pixels will be at whatever resolution you set. If you are setting a print resolution of 300, that is more than 3 times the standard SCREEN resolution, so it will always come out larger on screen. Don't worry about "actual pixels." Just use whatever is most comfortable on the screen size you have. If you really want to make sure that your document is A3 size, go to Image>image size and look at the physical dimensions of your document. It should be 420 x 297 mm (42 x 29.7 cm) or 16.5 x 11.7 in, depending on what you have set units to.

The dimensions of the A3 paper is 40x28 cm (~ 15.75x11 inches)

The number of pixels is not dependent on the A3 specification which is just the spec of the size of the paper, but rather the number of pixels per inch the application and/or printer is set to use. Simple mathematics can be used once you know the pixels per inch the printout is going to be.

Dimensions Of A3

Answer to and old question...

Let's assume you want to print a photograph on to A3.

300 dpi will give good photographic results with a pixel resolution of W= 3508px H= 4961px

If you want to print at 600dpi on A3 - double the image size in pixels. Most modern digital cameras will automatically set the dpi to 300

See what your printer settings offer and try experimenting.
