I remember when I was in high school, I just put the phone on vibration mode when I go to classes. Nobody could notice the phone vibrating in your pocket. So why now the mosquito ringtone seems to be a hit when its pitch almost can pop ears?

I haven't heard about the mosquito ring tone, but if people like it so much it must be because it is "the latest thing", and people like to be the first to use or to have anything new. And if it is something "weird" they will love it more.

But do not worry about it. As soon as a newer weirder ring tone gets available, the mosquito will be history

I just heard about the mosquito ringtone on the radio yesterday. Students use it because they do not want their teacher's to hear their phone ringing. It is a proven fact that the older one gets the less likely they are to hear high pitched tones. Being that I am in my 30's, I thank my lucky stars that it is a fact. The mosquito tone does not pierce my eardrums, as a matter of fact, I would probably use it thinking that it was a quiet ring

It may b useful in class 4 texts 4 a little while but after the 20th text u get in a day it might drive u crazy. Thank god no one in my school has that ring. Hey! I'm a welsh school person, and that ringtone is dead annoying. It's a good idea for people who don't want the teachers to know, but there are loads of people who play it just to annoy everyone in the class, and the teacher can't really tell anyone off, as hearing is believing!!! Tim

Does the ringtone bug you?

Half the ringtones I hear (particularly those supplied with the phone) are harsh and annoying. You have to download your favorite, and that should not involve an insect.

I haven't heard it. I have read the news about it. Why not just turn the ringer and vibrate completely off. The phone will still light up when you get a call/message? Silly kids!

I have had my phone on vibrate and can still hear it. With the mosquito ring tone only people w/ exceptional hearing / young people can hear it. Since your hearing gets worse and worse as you get older

"Well now techno-savvy pupils have recorded the ultra-high sound - audible only to under-20s- onto their cell phones, and are now receiving calls and text messages in class - without teachers having the faintest idea of what is going on."
