First, see if your carrier has coverage in that area. Then look at the type of phone you have, that's a biggie. I have an LG6100 with Verizon, I love their coverage area and when I am traveling with my brother, he has a bit older Motorola phone, and gets great reception everywhere! I don't, my phone will display out of network and we have identical carriers and coverage! It may notbe the network, but your phone. especially if it has an internal antenna. Also, check with your carrier to see if you can program your phone from time to time, mine is about once a month, it takes a few seconds, and this enhances your roaming capabilities. Your carrier can walk you through this process if they have it, it's a cinch, and is great, even when when we drive to Denver, less than 50 miles away. Do you possibily have your phone set to shut off when you are out of you area and start roaming? Those little maps are so hard to read. It would be on settings. I would talk to tech support, tell them you aren't satisfied with your phone. You may have a great phone that has a glitch in the system, and need a factory replacement. I had to get one on my last LG phone. Start with Tech Support, if they are Verizon or anything like them, they will help you, they have never let me down in 4 years, they are patient and give me sound advice. Good luck to you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've experienced it, buy a new one but make sure it's not the same model/brand you use now and also sony ericson. Either Motorola or Nokia is the best.
