According to the AMA, ultrasound during pregnancy can be performed as early as 7 weeks. So no it is not to early. The earlier the better for you since your profile states you are an older mom.

No, it's not too early. At 12 weeks, he/she can see if the pregnancy is progressing normally as well as get some preliminary measurements to help gage the rest of the pregnancy on. You won't be able to tell the sex of the baby at this point, but I can assure you it's absolutely exciting to see your baby for the first time. Be prepared that you will have to use a little imagination to know what you're looking at... the fetus looks more like an alien than an actual baby at this point but it's still fascinating.
Good luck and congratulations!

No, 10-12 weeks for a normal pregnancy is normal! Some have u/s's earlier if they suspect problems...the good thing about having the early u/s (before 12 weeks) is that ALL BABIES/FETUS' grow at the SAME rate before 12 weeks so your doctor./technician will be able to tell your exact due date with the ultrasoundif there were any calculation discrepancies or off-ovulation times...also, you get to see your babies heartbeat, they can tell if there are any early problems...then, you'll get another one at about 16-20 weeks to determine sex if you want and to measure the baby's brain...your doctor is doing the right things!

Well you aren't going to be able to see what you're having but it's still not too early. This ultrasound will most likely be done to see how far along you are. I'm 13 weeks and have my 12 week sonogram on my MySpace pictures. If you would like to get a peek at what you are going to see, you can see my little one @ http://www.myspace.com/jennifer_laws

Not at all- I saw my last one at 5 weeks. The earlier the ultrasound, the more accurate the due date they can give you from it. Mine was almost on the money. Went into labor on my due date and had the baby the next morning.

No, I was getting ultrasound every other week from 6 weeks. I was pregnant with twins and they had to make sure that they didn't have twin to twin transfusion.
