Let the monsoon showers start in Maharashtra. Then go out to country side, just a long drive, may be a trip towards southern side, all are green, good green, and good green nature spread around you.

1. Bhandardara- 32 kms from Igatpuri . Has a gorgeous Randhwa waterfall, Ratangarh Fort, Lake Arthur, Pravara ( upper godavari) River, Kalsubai (highest in the state) peak, Ajoba mountain, fabulous place, completely green.
2. Igatpuri- Kasara ghats, camel valley, Tringalwadi fort, vaitarna river, Vaitarna Lake/ reservoir, Khodala, Jawhar, unnamed waterfalls on the way to Khodala, lush amazing...
3. Malshej Ghat especially when it rains ! Mind blowing place. September onwards Flamingo nation..Aahupe Ghat.
4. Lonavala- Pawna Lake, Kamshet, Lohagarh Fort, Koraigarh Fort, Karla and Bhaja caves...
5. Koyna on the sounthern most tip of Koyna Lake, Koyna Forest Reserve, Chiplun, Parashuram.
6. Tapola , 30kms from Mahabaleshwar to enjoy boating on the Koyna Lake... surrounded all round by Sahyadri mountains... unbelievable after the rains.
7. Bhimashankar - jyotirling, forest reserve... wild and wonderful.

How about Alibaug? there are some nice forts that you can visit, it has its own beach, not too far off from Mumbai. You can take a ferry ride from the Gateway of India, Mumbai.

try GANAPATI PULE. its a place famous for white sand beach n one ashta vinayak mandir is located there. places around are also good. its in Ratnagiri District. 375 kms from south mumbai
