Its all about the storage space of the computer.
i.e. 40GB has 40 giga bytes of storage space on the hard disk of the computer.
and 80 GB hard disk will have 80 giga bytes of storage space. So, you can store more data on 80GB hard disk than on 40GB hard disk.

80 GB is double 40 GB, therefore the difference is 40 GB. Not necessarily any difference in speed, merely the amount of data which can be stored (assuming we are talking about a hard drive). Personally i would opt for the larger storage if faced with a choice as to which to buy, as it will probably be handy in the future even if you dont think you need it right now.

Eh, 40GB!

If you're talking about MP3 players or something, the 'real' difference between 40 gigs and 80 gigs is about 10,000 songs (40 GB can hold approx 10,000 songs).

the point is:80GB or 40 GB is amount of disc space .if you aren't a idiot you should know that 80 is more than 40. lol 1GB=1000 MB

as a computer hardware
1)80 GB can store more data than 40 GB
2)80 GB is costlier than 40 GB
& there is also a little bit of difference in speed
