Does it seem that there are more sexual predators around lately? Please explain.

There does seem to be more sex crimes along with the extreme sickness of sexual predators. I think anyone who would even think about rape or preying on the innocent should seek help immediately.
I'm sure these problems have existed through creation, but with all that is on TV, DVDs, not to mention video games there will be an increase of sexual awareness, good and bad. Sometimes life is had enough without having to worry about what kind of sicko is waiting somewhere for you or a loved one....

I don't think there has been an increase on sexual crimes, just an increase on the awareness of them.
Take a look at history, the Vikings were well known for raping whole towns, but individual cases were rarely noted (with the famous exception of the Romans raping Boudecia's children in front of her).
During the English occupation of Scotland, circa Richard the Lionheart, rape was commonplace but not talked about.
In Northern Ireland, priests have been abusing children for centuries, but nobody would ever speak out against the church, nor believe anyone that did.
So the amount of sexual abuse is probably the same, but people are not longer guilted in to keeping silent about it.

I know what you are talking about. I was raped about 6 months. My mother was paid to let a man rape me. And I have been depressed for a while about it. All that I can say to someone who is going through the same thing is that it is not your fault. You have done nothing wrong. And the best advice out there is to turn to God because he is the only one that can help you in a time like this. Counseling helps but, they can't take away the pain. So stick with god and he will help you I promise. And don't think that it is your fault because YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT!

I don't think there has been an increase of sexual predators, more likely an increased awareness of them. freaks and pervs have been around for ever.

I suspect these crimes are reported to the police more due to society's changing attitude towards the victims.

And it's probably going to get much worse.
