You dont just blow, you sort of blow a raspberry into it, but without using your tongue, if you can understand that?

its hard to explain in writing - but you basically make noises into it - the sound creates vibrations which produces the distinctive 'kazoo noise'. You can hum into it though this is not as effective, and simply blowing into it will produce no sound at all. Its not difficult, so experiment a little and you will soon figure out how to work it!

You sort of hum/whistle into it. Whatever tune you want to play, you hum or whistle that into it and it will come out in it's own kazoo way. And no question is silly, if you don't know the answer to it. :)

If you blow into it, you won't get a sound. Humming causes the diaphragm of the kazoo to vibrate, which makes the sound.

It's akin to playing a melody on a comb-and-cigarettepaper.
The 'reet' starts vibrating because you blow air over it and the tone is basically generated by yourself and then amplified by the kazoo.
