Yes it is, only private cos can make rapid progress with less interference from the bureaucrats. That way they can function smoothly and offer us world class airports which can be pride for any country.

Government attitude is generally straight jacket and does not have any creativity and innovation.

By government if you mean people who run it, then no. But it will be good for the nation and fliers. We will get world class airports and flying will not be a pain. But people in government will lose in the sense that whenever a PSU goes out of government control, parasites from ministers down to a babu will not be able to live off the PSU (in this case AAI). Do you know that domestic cook of a former minister of urban development (Ananth Kumar, BJP leader from Karnataka) was paid salary of Rs. 1.86 lacs from coffers of Hudco, as PSU then under control of Ananth Kumar, who was then minister of Urban Development. Government babus will lose perks like these.

Yes it is.First and for most it will give them an instant cash income.Secondly they cut the costs that they incur in running the airport. The best part is they still get to earn more from taxing the owners of the airport. And in some countries it appears institutions do much better (efficiency and quality of service) when run by private than when run by government!
