I am very picky on my monitors. I would suggest you buy it from some place that does not have a restocking fee.
Viewsonic is my current favorite! I also have a Samsung and a Mag Innovision that are good too. All are LCDs.
However the best picture is from my old Hitachi CRT.

Hey, that depends on what budget u r planning to have.
Go for a LCD display. The rates have plummeted and it looks good too.
Plus gives lesser strain to eyes.
The choice is between 15'' or 17'' monitor. The rates of the monitors increase according to the screen area because it increases the pixels required.
In any case go for a Samsung, I think it's the best of the lot.
NEC is good too. (National Electronics Corporation , JAPAN).

Go for Samsung ..... LCD
LG for conventional CRT monitors...
Before tht try to see which company gives good after sales support

All are best it depends on you how do u care that but I am using LG flatron so I will suggest you that take that because it is beneficial for you eyes also because it have an eye protection cover on screen.

Depends on the size of monitor and weather it is LCD or TFT or CRT..you did not say what kind you are looking at
Dells are good LCDs but Viewsonic are much better and Sony is even nicer..

I own a acer LCD flat screen 19" monitor and had it for a yr now and NEVER had a bit of problem with it ..Crystal clear color and graphics....
