I'm afraid of dead things... or more specifically, dead people.
Why?
Honestly, because when I was five years old, I had pneumonia and my mother (having all the parenting instincts of your average lizard) chose to simply lock me in my room rather than take me to the hospital.
The long story short is during my delerium I began to hallucinate that these rotting corpses and mummies were creeping across the darkened room and were attacking me and trying to drag me back to the cemetery with them and make me a dead thing just like they were, but as much as I screamed for someone to help me, no one ever came to shake me out of it and tell me it was only a bad dream... so while eventually I got over the illness, I never got over the fear of them.
And you know, the fact I know that rationally does absolutely nothing to make it any less scary.
Oh, and since they kept crawling out of the darkness of an open closet door, so to this day I can't sleep with a closet door open, either.

I am not trying to be cute, but I am afraid of fear.I'm old enough to know that fear, not money,is the root of all evil.Everyone is afraid today.Fear makes people do stupid things like buy guns.Fear makes people work non stop to save for what?Family doesn't exist 'cause everyone is working, since everyone is afraid to not be like everyone else.Fear makes people not be themselves, they're to afraid to be ridiculed.Fear makes people hurt other people.Fear makes the soldier shoot an innocent civilian.Fear of God makes people massacre whole villages.I'm afraid that fear is the reason that the world is so messed up.

The main reason of fear is when we perceive that there can be a danger and if we can not react in time to avoid it. I afraid of 'unknown' on which I don't have control....
ex. afraid of 'darkness' in a strange place, because in darkness, I can't see and if there is any danger, I can not react and protect myself effectively. But if I am at home or some other safe place where I don't perceive any threat then at that time, not afraid of 'darkness' either. On same basis, I am not afraid of dogs but if I see a strange 'dog' coming towards me and I am not aware whether dog is disciplined or not, then I will be afraid because of 'unknown' nature of the dog and will take necessary precaution to avoid injury.
'Fear' is our inbuilt function in the body to understand the threat and take action to avoid it. And it is for our own good and not a shortcoming.

I have claustrophobia. I can't even watch horror movies where people are being buried alive or crawling in small tunnels like in a cave or mine without having trouble breathing, etc...stems from when my brother and I were little and playing hide-n-seek. I hid in a trunk and got locked in and can still hear my mother crying and yelling because she couldn't find the key which she finally did thank god!

Being Quadraplegic or handicapped to the point where I was a burden on my loved ones without the ability to end it.
I suppose this stems from a fear of being worthless.

i am afraid of getting cancer. any kind of cancer. why? because my whole bloodline has been affected by cancer. my father. my uncle. my aunty. my cousin. and my grandpa. all different types: tumour, lung, breast, head tumour... you name it. my cousin is dead now. my uncle and my aunt has been admitted to the hospital numerous of times. i'm afraid that i will be next in line to get cancer. i mean, come on... the chances of me getting infected are huge. i'm also scared to acquire diabetes. my mother's side, some of them, have diabetes. i guess my real fear is to develop a chronic disease.
