The easy way to figure this out in you head (just to get close) when going from F to C, subtract 32 and divide the result by 2.
so, 80 - 32 is 48 ... 48/2 is 24. so 80f is roughly 24c
When going from C to F, double it and add 32.
While not exact, you can at least figure out if you need a parka or a pair of shorts.
Cheers!
Added:
Oh yea, there is a bit of trivia here too: at minus 40, it's the same in F and C. tuck that one under your hat for future reference.

The formula of coverting fahrenheit to celsius
Tc = (5/9)*(Tf-32)
where:
Tf - is the temperature in fahrenheit
Tc - is the temperature in celsius
to solve:
Tc = (5/9)*(80 - 32)
Tc = (5/9)*48
Tc = 240/9
Tc = 26.67 degrees Celsius

its around 26 degrees celsius
heres the formulas:
C=(F-32) x 5/9 Fahrenheit to Celsius
F=C x 9/5+32 Celsius to Fahrenheit

F to C
x-32*5/9
80-32=48
48*5=240
240/9=26.67 (about)or.66666666666667
C to F
x*9/5+32
26.66666666667*9=(about)240
240/5=48
48+32=80

Celcius is OK. We use it here in NZ. Freezing is 0 (32f) and boiling is 100 (212f). Blood is 37 (98F) and your in trouble if it goes over 40 (104).The other guys are right giving you the formulas.
