With acceptance of quantum physics, the M theory and new research on the subject of death, dying and rebirth, the scientific community is just beginning to take seriously the idea of reincarnation.
One of these scientists is Jim B. Tucker, PhD. (who grew up in the Southern Baptist faith, by the way) who recently published his studies on the subject. His book, ""Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children's Memories of Previous Lives", was praised by Harvard biologist Michael Levin as "a first-rate piece of research".

There's a lot of medical experiments with hypnosis that support it. The people hynotized could tell their past lives and why they chose what they did to happen to them in this one. That answers will come in our understanding and further learning of what happens at the quantum level.
