The thief steals about $50 once a week. The weed smoker occassionally misses a day or two from work during the month. Which is the best candidate? (Note: these are your only 2 candidates).

I would pick the pot smoker..hey that person will be chill and relaxed and may work better when high, the thief on the other hand will gradually begin to steal more as time passes without getting caught, plus being a thief pretty much means be a lier as well....

The weed smoker! I can't stand thief's. The weed smoker will show up so he has money to buy weed! They smile a lot and I like people who Smile.

Like any thing else if you want something done right you must do it your self, I would not knowingly hire a thief or a "weed" (I assume pot) smoker . I would just do the work myself.

as an initial answer...neither, i'll work alone..but this is an unfair question...what if i asked you who would you rather throw into the volcano? your brother or your sister, given that you love them both equally?..pot smoking isn't wrong but if this guy worked for me...he wouldn't be working for me...the thief, well, i'd call the police. hey, this is my livelihood right? if it comes down to it and i have to hire one of them, by some weird city ordinance, i'd hire the thief...i think i can address his issue with stealing from me but the smoker obviously has a problem if he's missin work...just my thoughts...take 'em or leave 'em.

That's easy, it has to be the thief, just pay him $50 less every week, he would never notice. He does not lose anything, his budget will end up even\add up, every month...........NO WORRIES, at least i will keep him of the streets. I'd rather him stealing $50 from me than food from the hunger or whatever....
