It was Churchill that said Democracy is the worst form of Govt excet for all the others. Best description I've ever heard. A federal republic is designed specifically so that it takes for ever & is almost impossible to get anything done. It blooms from the idea that govt is inherently evil, or at least prone to tyranny & corruption, and so must be limited in structure (constitution) & practice (political parties) in it's ability to opress the people, but still powerful enough in narrow areas to provide for the common good of society so that we can function together.

The Swiss have a federal republic based on the US constitution. The only difference is that the Presidency is held by a committee of 7 people who elect a chairman (pres) each year.

First, capitalism is not a form of government but a form of economic system.

Second, because I'm Swiss, I prefere a direct democracy. In my view, it's the state of the art form of government to guarantee that everyone (also small groups and parties) can participate in politics.

Read "1984." It's a good book and will tell you what the ideal form of government is by showing you a worst-case scenario.

A constitutional Republic with strict laws limiting government powers to tax, spend, and take liberty away from it's citizens.

The government would do nothing but defend the people and their rights.
