Genetically it would appear that our most direct ancestors were a species called homo habilis. They evolved around 800thousand to 1 million years ago. As they spread from East Africa, genetic changes occurred and the species came to be differentiated.
The actual time of emergence of our most recent direct ancestor, homo sapiens Cro Magnon, is still unknown. They appeared on the scene about 50 to 75 thousand years ago, apparently already in possession of all those characteristics that we today possess. Yet the mitochondrial DNA we share with them we also share with earlier versions and cousins like homo sapien Neanderthalensis, and homo habilis. Homo erectus, however doesn't appear to have had this specific mitochondrial DNA and cannot therefore be considered truly human as we today understand the term.
If you MUST have an Adam and Eve, you may postulate their appearance somewhere around a million years ago in what may well have been a specific act of creation. A "Zap" from the Hand of God, as it were, that gave a couple of homo habilis individuals (most likely mother and son as mitochondrial DNA is passed ONLY through the female) that particular kind of mitochondrial DNA......and incidentally started that branch of primates down the road to us.

They evolved from dinosaurs that lived on Antartica. They became adapted to living in caves and eventually deep inside the earth. They developed science and used genetic manipulation to create the grey 'aliens', the bigfoot, and the humans.

Depends on what you mean by "people".
Actually, it's kinda cool (though hardly "magical"). The first "people" (if you believe in people) were born of parents who were not people by that definition ... mom and dad were more primitive, less evolved, less ... people ... than their kids.
Sorta like today. Just ask your teen.

When people first became aware of themselves and others they became "people". Before that there was only awareness of hunger and other bodily functions. That's how it might seem magical, it was all a matter of conciousness.
