actually most of us answering questions here on yahoo could be described as researchers. a lot of what we reply to is from our own knowledge, but a lot involves looking into resources to gather information, too. that's what a researcher does. she is curious, determined, thoughtful, and persistent. she sorts out the good info from the bad and documents her sources. literally, she "searches again."

A researcher is someone who researches, as there profession. They might research the cure for a disease, if they are a medical researcher. If they were a legal researcher, they might work for an attorney, looking up past case law, or precedents for trial.
