helpppp i don't get any of this stuff. it says to "IDENTIFY THE OPPOSITES OF THE FOLLOWING RATIONAL NUMBERS"

how in the world do i do that? :(

It seems to me that you just have to add or remove the negative sign.

David F is correct. Just answer the negative or positive number for example the the opposite of 4/2 is -4/2; the opposite of -0.5 is 0.5. The rest is also correct multiply it by -1. Just remember multiplying numbers with the same sign results to positive, unlike signs results to negative.

if it wants the opposite in tems of gragient (the perpendicular), you want the negative reciprical ie.
3 gives -1/3
-5 gives 1/5
4/2 gives -2/4
-0.5 gives 2/1

These are opposites on the number line in general... And they are answered in the same order of the questions... Opposites mean as in the number line, negatives and positive signs..

you multiply with all of them sqrt (-1) which is imaginary number and written as 'i', since all are rational in your example, and after multiplying with 'i' it will become irretional and thus is opposite ... so 3 X 'i' = 3i is opposite of 3... and do the rest likewise
