In the early 1980's there was a show with Buddy Hacket (i think) a guy named Jake, and a dog with a patch over one eye. Jake was a Indiana Jones type guy and a pilot (small cesna type plane)
I think it was called "Search for the Golden Monkey" (might have been "Quest"
if anyone can give me any information on this show, any web site with it, who played Jake? I would apreciate it.

Tales of the Gold Monkey

The adventures of seaplane pilot and soldier of fortune Jake Cutter in the South Pacific of 1938. Jake, a former Flying Tigers pilot, made his home on the island of Boragora along with his one-eyed dog Jack and his mechanic Corky. Other companions were Bon Chance Louie, the local magistrate and owner of the Monkey Bar hangout, Sarah Stickney White, the bar's singer who was actually an American spy, and Dutch minister Willie Tenboom who was actually a German spy. Rounding out the cast of schemers was Princess Kogi, ruler of the nearby island of Matuka, and the samurai warrior Todo who commanded her private army.

The show premiered on September 22, 1982. Jake was played by Stephen Weaver Collins (star of 7th Heaven).

Additional info: Jake's companion, Corky, was played by Jeff MacKay.

Kerry Anne asked:

"There was a show in the early 80's about a man who flew a sea plane and he had a dog that wore an eye patch. His name was Jake or Jack. The dog had a glass eye but the man had lost it in a poker game or something. It was set in the 40's I think. Does anyone remember the name of this show or who the actor was who played the man?"

The answer is...

"Tales of the Gold Monkey, starring Stephen Collins"

Thank you so much. I never would have imagined that was Stephen Collins but I just looked up a bio on him and Tales of the Golden Monkey is right.
Can anyone tell me who played his companion? I swear its Buddy Hackett.

I actually got on a episode of this show.. by accident one time.
I was out in California in 82 or so, and on the Queen Mary (old curise ship thats museumed out there)
I saw the dog and didnt realize who it was at first. Then Jake (stephen collins) walks up and his buddy (buddy hackett or whoever) and i actually get in a conversation with them..
Turns out they were filming this whole thing.
Three weeks later a friend told me that i was in a episode that had just aired.
