The problem is there are not that many rational, educated human beings. It's a bell curve. For instance, the top of the curve is IQ 100, people with IQs below 100 are not considered to be very bright. Half of the population falls somewhere on that left side of the curve.

I am from the United States, and you've asked a very good question.
I wish I knew.
We are all from another race, country, or culture here in the USA. the only true natives are, Native Americans,( Indians).
People here are too spoiled, too "set" in their ways. To use to the,"good old", days.
They were good for whites, and men.
As for none white, and women, Not so "good".
America is always the last to accept new ways, new medicines, new anything.
I love my country, don't get me wrong, but for the values, and equal rights, we have a LONG way to go yet. We have improved, but NO WAY there yet..
So called, 3rd world countries we put our nose up to will soon be the true world super powers. Just watch, the USA will have to eat their dust.
We're the only country I have heard of that has never had a person of color, or a woman as president,( of the free world that is). We need to wake up a smell the coffee, and tea for sure over here.

It is human nature. Bigotry came to the USA via travel and people brought their hate with them. The same atitudes from the days of slavery and the discovery of the new world still exist because they were passed down. We are created in God's image, but we treat one another like dirt because of minute differences. This is a flaw in human nature because behaviour is passed down. I am a black man living in the South and I know plenty about the bigotry there, even though I am only 20. I have beem called such ugly words to my face as if it was no big deal. Where do the children get it? The parents. I learned that when the parent of a girl that I knew who called me the "n" word tried to justify her daughter's actions.

We need to learn tolerance, acceptance, and patience with those we do not understand, in order to truly live with them. Lead by example, do not point the finger and label , even biggots.
At a base level, we are all the same, humans, trying to get our most basic needs met. Food, shelter, water, air, and love.
Some of us have mastered it, others of us struggle with it.
Choose to master that what you can, and start with accepting that which does not seem rational.
Peace

people are like that everywhere. It's in their nature. I think the best measurment of a society is the ability to fight their nature and not just react to their feelings. But there is just too many people that don't do enough about people just reacting to their feelings the way they do. So some of those reactions get to be socially acceptable. And it's really sad.

Fear. Repackaged and handed down through the ages. Dodging responsibility by blaming others for what is wrong with their lives, neighborhoods, towns, states, countries etc... Neither education nor tax bracket make you immune. Seeking with an open heart ,finding, and accepting the truth will. Peace.

In the US? Try to world. A lot of it has to do with upbringing and other environmental influences. People naturally make assumptions based on a few experiences and stories, and once those assumptions are in place, it's hard to get rid of them.
