It has to be by talking to the boss, face-to-face. If I was a boss and got an e-mail request for a raise I would just delete it. It's more difficult to do it in person, but it's the only chance you have for possibly getting a raise. Your boss will want to know why you think you deserve a raise. Have some good solid facts down on paper so you can present them to your boss, not by handing him the paper, but by discussing them. After you have presented your case, give your boss a paper with some proof of what you do, like facts and figures. Good Luck.

If I really wanted the increase in salary, I would definitely ask the boss face to face. Plan what you are going to say, be ready to tell him/her why you feel you deserve the increase. Stay calm and self assured!! Good luck!

Never email a request like that. In person is the way to go. If they agree however, ask for something in writing.

I would go with in person, not e mail.Asking via e mail would portray u as being weak and coward like i think.A person that confronts things head on generally gains alot more respect from the people around them.

Prepare what you are going to say (why you deserve it, what you contribute to the company) and then do it in person.
