Hoosiers is a great inspirational film, starring Gene Hackman. Another would be Remember the Titans with Denzel Washington.
There are bunches of movies I could recommend. Sports related? How about the two I mentioned plus the Cutting Edge. Comedy? Dodgeball. Sci Fi? Independence Day or the Fifth Element. Of course there is always one of the best movies ever, The Shawshank Redemption. Hope this helps

Million Dollar Baby, Trust me you'll love it. It's depressing at times but its still good. I hate the movies , thats like Hoosiers, or bad news bears. The bad team , striving for victory is so played out. Million Dollar Baby is a great movie, it might not end how you'd like but its a good movie anyways.

i would recommend "the longest yard" with Adam sandler. it is a comedy, but it has some meaning behind it as well.
and i would highly recommend "Tuesdays with Morrie" that is such a great film. if you haven't heard of it, it is about a sports writer named Mitch who, after some years, finds out his college professor has A.L.S. otherwise known as Lou Garrek's disease. (sorry if i misspelled there.) mitch goes to visit his old professor, and the rest is up to you to find out what happens. there is also a book called this, check it out if you like the movie.
