do you have plenty of Ram?
Most peopl don't change the motherboard on laptops so your processing speed tends to be limited.

1. Uninstall unnecessary programs.
2. Perform Disk cleanup which will clear temporary files and delete all sorts of other unnecessary files left behind after uninstalls. This can be found in the Control Panel.
3. Defragment your hard drive ( In My Computer, right-click on the drive and go to the Tools tab.)
4. (a)If your laptop is running slow, press Ctrl+Alt+Del simultaneously to access the Task manager. The Task Manager has several tabs, the Performance tab will show you how much memory and processor power you are using, if it is using far more memory then you have I'd recommend upgrading your RAM or ask someone to show you how to increase the Paging file.
(b) The Processes tab when sorted by memory or CPU usage (just click on the heading and it will sort automatically) and you'll be able to see which program is the main resource eater. Some programs slow your computer down by starting up when you boot up your machine even when you are not using the program and that can impact performance.

Without upgrading the hardware, there's a few "housecleaning" type things you can do to speed it up:
- Remove all unecessary programs - this can be done through the Control Panel
- Perform a Disk Cleanup - found in the System Tools menu
- Defragment your hard drive - found in the System Tools menu
You could also download some kind of spyware detector, but if you have good anti-virus software it's likely you don't have any spyware.
Depending on how badly "messed up" your system is to begin with you will see varying results ranging from no improvement at all, to minor to moderate improvement - don't expect anything spectacular!

There are various ways but first of all you shoul know about your laptop such as:
Memory? how much memory you got? MB/RAM
if you have around 512 in this case you will face problem in watching movies or using several systems together.
But if you have More than 512 that is good.
After confirming now you need to take care of something such as:
How ofter do you clean Internet History/Temp files etc.
Do you use Deflag?
Now, clean history/temperory files etc
Run Deflag then Disk clean up this should be routine to keep space clean.
There is a freeware which will work for you could celan and even tell you about problems. But remember if your run the cleaner you must knwo that before deleting any file make it sure you do not need. If you are not sure about a file do not delete and ask someone who knows about that.
Here is a link for the fine software for free the first link.
The second link is about some quesitons
If still need help send mail nihon94@yahoo.com

laptops tend to become slow due to many reasons:
the obvious one being RAM
another case is also the hard disk rotation.
most laptops use a 4200 or 5400 RPM hard disk, try getting a new hard disk such as the seagate momentus wich rotates at 7200.9 RPM, if it is still slow try upgrading the RAM, most laptops have 1 SO-DIMM slot free and if it is already used up, u've got to replace it with one having higher capacity, around 512MB of RAM is enough for most of the applications

Was it slow from the day you purchased it or it just started acting up recently. If it just started recently then its just because of minor modifications done to your computer. Lets go step by step and try solving the problem.
1> Uninstall unwanted program
Go to control panel, add remove and uninstall all program that you no longer need. only keep programs that you need. If unsure about which programs to remove please contact your computer manufacturer.
2> Defragment your harddrive.
Go to start, program, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter and defragment your harddrive once in 2 days for opimal performance.
3> Use Antivirus solution
If you have an antivirus software, please update it first and then run a full scan to scan for any viruses.
4> Use spyware scanner
Visit these following links to download spyware removal tools to scan your Pc for spywares. The softwares you will get by following these links are Spybot- search and destroy, Adaware, Trend Micro online scanner, Microsoft anti spyware. Please follow the links. Update these softwares before you run a scan (except trend micro cuz its web based)

Make sure you restart the computer after every scan and scan your computer twice with each software. That is once you run a scan restart and run a scan again, restart and proceed with the other software (Except trend micro)
Again defragment your hard drive
All this should work. If not Please back up your dats, format and then reinstall your operating system. This will help you start fresh new and wll make your computer like new. If unable to perform any step, please call a computer expert like a friend, relative or take assistance frm your computer manufacturer.

you can do the following
go to start>All Programs>Accessories>system tools from there you need to run the following..... disk cleanup (make sure you go to the other options too like clear sys restore and go through your installed programs)and defrag.
once that's done do the following start>run>type msconfig
Go to the startup tab and see if things like winamp, msn messages, yahoo messanger office etc and other general programs which are running. these are programs that do not need to be running permanently ( don't swich off any files that in windows folders only the ones that are in the program folders) also don't switch off your anti virus....
