Bundling up when you have a fever is definitely an old wives tale. Children as well as adults should always dress down when you have a fever. A baby should only wear their diaper and maybe a tee shirt and an adult should dress very lightly as well. If you are shivering drape yourself with a light sheet or very light blanket but dont wrap it around and snuggle in.

You want to let the fever do it's thing but u have to make sure you dont let it get too hot for too long or you will get the equivilent of heat stroke.
But I don't know if u can technically sweat out a fever cause once u break into a sweat your fever has broken also, and I don't think u can force this to happen just by bundiling up.
Also this is all different if we are talking young kids then u dont mess around and u call the doctor if it doesnt respond to medicine.

Depending on how high the fever is...below 102 try to be comfortable: Don't bundle too much but put a cool, wet rag on your head. If your fever is any higher than that I would see a doc right away.

Try not to bundle up to much, but enough that your comfortable because if your fever is high enough and you chills and shivering get to bad you can go into shock.Take 2 extra strength tylonol and that will help reduce your fever as well as calm the chills and the shaking.

Actually, it's not an old wives tale... you need to be in bed bundled up so as to sweat it out, because virus' can't tolerate the heat and bundling up helps the body to do it's job of heating up to kill the virus. Your body naturally heats up, (fever), when under attack.
I know it feels miserable all bundled up and sweating, but believe me, it works by cutting down the time you're sick by a bunch!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot - because your body will get hot, you NEED to drink lots of liquid(s)!
