I feel like I am in single white female. I never know what is going to happen next. I feel frightened for my future, and I don't know how to fight back. I don't talk to her anymore but that seems to have made it worse. I did confront her, but she evaded me , she always pretends to be sweet to my face.

That exact thing happened to my aunt. She tried everything you did. Eventually she left her job for a different one 3 hours from her other one.

I would not suggest leaving your job unless it is your last result. I would first go to HR and explain everything to them. That way you have it documented in case anything should happen to you physically, mentally or verbally. I mean anything. I would have security or someone you trust walk you to and from your car. I would call a family member before you leave work and call them the minute you get home. If she has any access to your numbers try and get them changed so she can not contact you via a phone away from home. If she follows you home got straight to the police station and she should leave you alone outside of the office. Carry pepper spray if it is legal in your state. Also, call you local police (non emergency number) and ask them if they have any suggest on how to keep her away form you home.

I know this can be very scary I wish you nothing but happiness and luck. I will also pray for you it can not hurt.

Just keep your head down and do your job. This seems to happen all the time to lots of people, no matter where they work.

Its a reflection of that person, not you, so just do what you are getting paid to do, ignore her, and make sure the people who are important to your future KNOW you are doing what you are there to do.

If anything, she will be the one with her future in jeopardy. I've seen it over and over. These people think they are okay with their gossip, but the people who have the power at work aren't as stupid as we sometimes think. They see what she is doing, most probably.

Just do your job.

I've been in that same situations and you have to stand up to her regardless if your white or whatever. No one has the right or power to spread stuff about you. The next time you see her you let her know that if she keeps up this gossip stuff your going to your HR rep. and tell them you are being harassed at work by her. I guarantee it will stop, and next time remember to be careful who you invite into your circle of friends because some people are nothing but, wolves in sheeps clothing. Treat them nice but also keep your private life and work life separate at all times.

Hello. You know what, I had encounter same scenario as you. You don't need to fight back. You know your self better than what she knows you. She isn't worth to spend your time just thinking how to fight her back. Go on with your life. Ignore her. That kind of person is not in her good condition to think the right from wrong.

I would put a sign on my desk that reads, small people talk about other people, big people talk about great ideas. or find a good time to tell her in a group of people that when people are talking about you at least they are giving others a break. or you can tell her your a good subject, keep talking about you..good luck....just so you'll know how things are in the working world, don't complain about her, just ride it out, in a while you'll see someone get hired that does the same thing to her...it's a king of the mountain thing....good luck...

force her to face you. talk seriously, asking why did she do that? if it is difficult, try to change the job. but i don't think this is good idea. this type of person are everywhere, next time you have to be careful, don't disclose too much esp ppl at work
