Depends on what state you live in.

Most States do not have regulations or laws about when a child is considered old enough to care for him/herself or to care for other children. Currently Illinois and Maryland have laws addressing this topic. States may have guidelines or recommendations. These guidelines are most often distributed through child protective services and are administered at the county level.

This varies by state. In Alabama there is no time limit at all for anyone over the age of 12.

In this day and age it not really safe to leave a 14 year old alone ever.

Usually it's a hindsight issue. If there were no problems there is no problem. Food clothing and shelter must be provided. I've found that age to have a time limit of about six minutes.

You would have to be emancipated, which would require you to show to the court the neglect from parent or guardian as well as valid reason for your need for emancipation. You have to show that you are able to live by yourself, you have to demonstrate that you have a stable job as well that you go to school or complete your GED. It is very difficult, especially if you are that young.

There does not appear to be a statutory time limit. The statute requires children be provided food, shelter and clothing but does not impose a supervision restriction.

14 yr olds in most states can baby sit or work with parents permission. so i would think for a work day
