A writer tells the world the things that we are all afraid to say. A writer writes because he must and for no other reason.

I am not a writer nor a poet, but sometimes I observe something that has meaning or touches me in some way, and words begin to flow in my head. If I have pen and paper with me at that moment, I write it down. If I don't, well I guess it's lost, because my short term memory is not good. I therefore carry a pen and notebook in my purse at all times. It's almost like creating a painting but using words instead of colour. How great the finished product is really depends on how much it inspires the reader or the observer. I usually just keep my scribbles to inspire my lover...Lol.

I've loved writing from the moment my mom showed me what I could make with a pencil. When I was little, writing was just a fun way to tell a story, to make something for someone that was a part of me. As I got older and life got harder, writing became my salvation. It's been a constant in my life...whether things are going great or they're falling apart, I can get lost in my own world for a while and escape the madness. Being a writer is a lot like being God-you create the characters and the basics of their life, but you never know what will happen. As I write, my characters take on their own identity and make their own decisions-sometimes the things they do surprise me as soon as I write it down. It's like when my life is out of control, I can go to the world I created with the people I created, and just not worry about that, and just enjoy getting lost in the story. Writing is a calling, a whisper in your head that says you have so many things to tell the world, and that you can do it in a beautiful, fascinating way. Being a writer means being in love with the written word, being fascinated by the way 26 letters can do so much, having the need in you to explore yourself and humanity then put in on paper for the world to see. That's what writing is to me.

I'm not a published writer as of yet...but I am an aspiring writer. It's my dream to write something or many things/books that people will enjoy and remember. I long for the respect and recognition that comes with being an excellent writer and I have always communicated far better in writing. I love the written word and I love to read. I hope to one day write a book (s) that will inspire and influence others and bring great satisfaction to me, as well...along with earning a decent living at doing something I love and want to share with the world.

Its in deep inside. Sometimes it manifests itself like a aching hurt, other times like passionate Love. Someone who is a writer was always Destined to be so. It is deep seeded in their spirit. In this world there are people who can Love, and there are people who Love like the great Loves told of in stories and Legend...like Romeo and Juliet. Those people, they are the poets, the writers. The pen, is like a messiah of release. I outlet for that which is within. Now those are the same whom can hate the most and become the dark and evil of the world, the Conquerers and Killers. It is a curse and a Blessing. Being a writer means creating a Fictional Retelling of the World Within, or merely Painting a Picture in words of the way we see the World outside.

I am a writer, have been for my entire life. It's just what I am.
There are things in my head that have to be set to paper. I love to tell people stories that way. Mostly I write because I need to. I *have* to get these words out of my head. I am what's commonly called "an inspired writer" which merely means I write whatever's in my head. Sometimes that's a complete story, sometimes it's only 200 words. Yesterday it was 2,900 words in one of my novels.
I am capable of writing technically, or because I have to, but I'd much rather tell the stories that spontaneously develop in my head.
As for other people, some write because they need to create something and can't use other mediums. Writing can be taught, talent can develop through lessons but I think most writers have a passion for it. Some write because they have to, because there is no other way for them to destress, or express themselves. Some have what they call "divine inspiration." I think most writers write because they love the written word, most writers are readers too.

Mostly, it is a desire to express an idea in story or verse form. SOme people are motivated by fame, some my money (or the hope of it), while others want praise. Recognition is a big motivation, whether small-time (within a family or community) or big-time (national or international). Creation is also a powerful motive. Once a poem or book is written, something exists that never did before.

I believe it's the urge to communicate, to tell your stories, opinions, beliefs, ideas, attitudes, etc. I don't know about other writers, but as I consider myself a writer, I have this uncontrollable need to create stories and tell them. It's like a calling and believe me it makes my life so much more interesting. I also believe a good writer is also a good reader and listener because a writer has to be able to see different perspectives and gain as much information as he/she can to add to their own knowledge so they can better communicate

A writer strings words together in a coherent form to communicate his or her ideas, usually on a large scale or with the intention of sharing it on a alrge scale.
