Nahhhh, fish jump all the time. Just keep an eye on the tail and if it starts getting red streaks, white spots, or rotting off, then you need to treat it. I have koi, don't know much about plattys though.

your fish will die if you dont get them in a tank with a heather and some form of filtration plattys a tropical and need a temp of between 72 - 78 also never change more then 25% of there water at a time. good luck

Ammonia or Chlorine poisoning is what caused them to jump out. Probably the bowl is too small. Use Ammolock or Amquel to ease things. Read the article of mine:

I don't think so, because I seem to remember that we had fish with damaged tails before. I don't remember if the tail grows back though.
