Life is eternal. We are eternal beings. We lived as intelligent spirits before this mortal life. We are now living part of eternity. Our mortal birth was not the beginning. Death, which faces all of us, is not the end.
Thank God for the life and ministry of the Master, Jesus the Christ, who broke the bonds of death, who is the light and life of the world, who set the pattern, who established the guidelines for all of us, and who proclaimed: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
“And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die” (John 11:25–26).
Yes, life is eternal. We live on and on after earth life, even though we ofttimes lose sight of that great basic truth.
Our affections are often too highly placed upon paltry, perishable objects. Material treasures of earth are merely to provide us, as it were, room and board while we are here at school. It is for us to place gold, silver, houses, stocks, lands, cattle, and other earthly possessions in their proper place.
This is but a place of temporary duration. We are here to learn the first lesson toward exaltation—obedience to the Lord’s gospel plan.
-Heaven will be beauty beyond words, One cannot describe the fullness of beauty.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by eternity. Earthly Eternity? Heaven?
My understanding of eternity is more of an understanding of our natural state, according to me ;-). I think that we are the energy that animates this body, a sliver of univers, a child of god as it were. I think we come here to learn something or experience something specific - like a holodeck program almost. I think that once we are through here, our essence (or soul) returns to join the universal energy and i think it is a wonderful, warm and lovely place of total peace and an energy existence. I think we rest up and then get with our friends and make a plan to come back - though I am starting to feel like there comes a point when we get tired of coming here and we do something else (though i have no idea what).

Hmmmm..... Eternity. I don't want to give you extended boring answers, so here it is in a nutshell. I believe firmly in actual eternity, like that the universe will exist endlessly. Religiously, Im not so sure of it. I believe that there was existence before the "creation" of our current universe. I believe universes come and go and that they "die" and are "reborn" the nanosecond they do so.

I'm a Christian so eternity means now and in the future. I believe that, although everyone will die physically...the life will leave the body...our bodies are just an empty shell once our heart stops beating. I do not know even a tiny fraction of what it will be like. We won't know till we get there. I am not sure if everyone who has left their body on Earth will sleep until Jesus comes back to reign on Earth for a thousand years. Or if immediately we will be in God's presence. Outside of Earth time ....will there be any time or will it seem like we have only been asleep a few moments? Has everything already happened in eternity since God is not bound by Earth's time passing? No one knows for sure even if they are the cleverest scholars of the Bible. Some things will remain a mystery.
For me- this life I now live- is only a tiny dot on the eternal time line. I'm learning lots about myself...about God's plan for my life... about what is truly living by faith. I look forward to spending forever with God. It won't be boring...I will be using what I have learned in this life....as worship to God, to help everyone who is living on the new Earth (no longer any sea)and the new Heaven (for the first heaven and the first earth will have passed away)and in the city of God.. the new Jerusalem- the Holy City that will come down from God. Preparation happens here in finite time- for an infinite dwelling with God. "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21.
In the same chapter of the Bible....verse 22...."I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it for the glory of God gives it light and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the Earth will bring their splendour into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honour of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."
Rev. 22 says, "Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yeilding its fruit every month. And the laeves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see his face, and His name will be upon their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever."
There is so much more to learn about forever being with God. And eternity is a free gift to all who will follow Jesus and be doers of His words and His Word the Bible. He has a good future planned for each one of us. A plan for good and not for evil. A plan to give us hope and a future...Jeremiah 29. Why would anyone turn Him down and not accept His offer of life forever more?

i believe eternity is described in it's definition, basically forever and ever and ever and ever and ever, excetera. though everyTHING ends eternity is not for a thing or subject or person, no matter what happens, if no people exist let alone other beings, if time stops, then it is in the same spot of eternity, but eternity goes on and on no matter what.

Suppose you are on a circle. Eternity loops back to yourself. It might pass you by over and over, without any stop. That's how I perceive eternity.

i think eternity is how u want it to be. just like heaven, everybody's "version" of heaven is different. as long as u live correctly now then u shouldn't have anything to worry about later. we all make mistakes, it's just the way u go about correcting them. just be careful what u create in ur mind, cause ur mind can play tricks on u.
