OK..I need some help, my friends nose has been bleedin for like 30 mins any godly idea on how to stop it?!?

he hit it on an ironing board and it wont stop bleedin..we tried everything but yea no luck so i figured id give this a shot lol although i realize he could bleed longer awaiting answers..too bad the hospitals are so far away :|

Well, uhh.....I've taken first aid classes and he kinda needs medical attention if its been going that long....Your actually suposed to get help after 15 mins.

This works. Take a cold wet towel and put it on the back of his neck for a few minutes. The bleeding will stop. However, after the bleeding stops, call the hospital e.r. and ask if he should be seen in case he needs stitches. As a mother and grandma, I know this works. You can also put a wet sanitary cloth on the cut and maybe that will help. Try the neck first.

Okay, get a wet cold towel and put it on his forehead and nose area to calm the pressure, but at the sametime make sure to put extreme pressure on his nose, somewhat like a tight pinch. Be very sure not to tilt his head back because that can cause blood clots to go into his nasal/respiratory system. Also, make sure your friend is sitting down on a chair and not on the bed, etc.

Have your friend sit straight up and pinch the nostrils tightly with your fingers,sometimes applying ice to the back of the neck will help, when the Dr's pack the nose to get it too stop bleeding, they usually use gauze, if you don't have gauze, you could try Kleenex tissue.

All pretty good answers. Tilt head back, pinch with thumb and forefinger with cold wet clean rag or towel. If it continues for another 30 minutes, or he gets dizzy, nauseated, or weak feeling, call 911 and have paramedics respond.

head back, ice pack or cool cloth on the back of his neck, place a piece of paperbag (big enough to where you have to fold it once or twice) underneath his upper lip. (don't ask why - I've used it before and it worked) although nose was hit with counter and not ironing board.

It sounds like his nose is broke. Take him in to the doc. If his nose is broken and its putting pressure on a blood vessel the doc will have to rebreak it to put it back (yes, it hurts like hell) but he will feel better and the bleeding will stop.

Pack your friends nose with tissues or toilet paper and have him lay down and put something under his leggs to surport them.....If his nose doesn't stop in 30 minutes,take him to the doctor or hospital......
