To clarify, I have been reading these questions and answers all day, and it is easy to tell which way the person who answers leans left or right.

It seems to me (after a few hours of reading) that a conservative will answer a question with fact or from a moral standpoint. All in all from a very decent base.

On the otherside I have watched liberals answer questions with threats, name calling, finger pointing, lots of !#$%^& words, silly rhetoric, and blaming conservatives for the behavior that they are responsible of.

Every once in awhile you will get an over educated liberal who will try to befuddle his answer with long drawn conclusions and misleadings but when you disect what he has written, you realize that there was not a point to be made.

To test this theory I asked several hard hitting questions today and the answers don't favor liberals at all, read them!!

For the most part Liberals are playing with a fifth grade mentality.

And they want to run our country?

I too can tell a liberal just by the way they act...they have a hate basis for anything they don't agree with while paying lip service to "tolerance". The way they act is so child-like. What they don't understand is that they are attempting to take away all the rules in our country...commit crime....let them out, marry same sex...there is nothing perverted about that....be a pedophile,,,,it's ok, you were born that way.....and down with religion, esp Christian because it is evil to have a higher power say that anything is wrong. It is a child-like existance in a world of theory...global warming, abortion, gun control etc. etc. I wish we could cut the country in half and live in the conservative half!!!

1) Its hard to put a name on a face like "liberal", or "conservative".

In fact, the Bush Administration is fundementally based on "neo-liberalism" which is the theory that supports the whole of the "neo-con" base, even though the terms would seem to contradict eachother.

I'm a lefty, but I dont support gun control or gay marriage, I'm an athiest, and I like my steak rare and my cars fast. So what does it all mean? It means that labels and prejudice do not follow through with the people they represent. as Ken Mehlman of the Bush Adminstration refers to (cite Karl Rove), to "Pre-Judge" people is wrong. Just because someone says they are liberal, it does not mean that they have a "fifth grade mentality" or anything like that.

2) people are people- some people talk with their emotions, some with their minds, and then some with an informed opinion. Its up to the individual, you, to choose which source to listen to.. for example, as a conservative, you have a choice to read the Guardian or watch Fox News. Its in your control.

I think a problem with the American Left is that they generally accept everyone that wants to be a liberal into their flocks immediatley. I dont agree with the whole Rainbow Coalition mentality, and I think letting in all the oddballs has hurt the name of the Left.

but, enough ranting for right now. To answer your question, some Liberals actually are worse than you could ever imagine, lesbian vegan peace-loving militias armed with their rhetoric etc, but the vast majority of the left is very respectable, down to earth, and overall, very agreeable.

Thanks for taking the time to read my response,
-Vlad

It seems to me that you are unwilling or perhaps unable to look at both sides. While you see ignorant people threatening only on the liberal side, I see them everywhere. While you think "over educated" liberals are just using big words to sound smarter, I see a very convincible argument. Let's take a look at your question. I read it and I understood what your saying. However, I could have just read your question and narrowed it down to you asking, "Why do liberals suck?" When you read an "obviously liberal answer", you refuse to look at the meaning. You also refuse to acknowledge that there are plenty of conservatives out there saying incredible stupid things. Also, I have to ask, why does a moral standpoint count as a good answer? That is pretty much where liberals and conservatives differ. Most conservative’s morals are just too extreme for me. Morals are very subjective and vary from person to person.

Now what I notice about both sides is an inability to recognize the other side’s opinions. I believe that more than having a "liberal" in office or a "conservative" I would rather have someone in the middle. I also think it is important for all sides to listen to each other.

Based from a simple observation of your question, I don't think you know what a liberal is. I wrote this a month or so ago about what it means to be a liberal. Maybe you will read it and consider what is means:

"Freedom.

Freedom to choose to live your life how you want to. If that means falling in love with someone of your own gender so be it. If that means hating people based on race, sexual orientation, and other in born traits so be it.

As long as you aren't hurting yourself or other people, than I have no problems with you. But when you say that we should kill abortion doctors for killing fetuses, I will not listen to your side. When you say that we should hurt people and their families because you don't like how they look or act, I will never feel any sympathy for you.

I believe in the freedom to choose. If you choose life, as some people say, that's awesome. If you choose to believe that women are in control of their bodies, not the government, that's awesome too.

Don't restrict my freedom just because you want to restrict yours."

By definition, a liberal favors progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties. If you consider that bad, than...

The Democratic Party stands for (from their website):
"For more than 200 years, the Democratic Party has represented the interests of working families, fighting for equal opportunities and justice for all Americans.

Today, Democrats continue that fight with a firm commitment to the values that we all share as Americans: a secure nation that leads in the world, strong economic growth and new jobs, affordable health care for all Americans, and a better education for our children."

You should not generalize that all liberals are this and that, based upon a few responses on the Internet. Both liberals and conservatives desire a better America, but they have different methods of getting there.

On economic issues, conservatives generally lean more towards the free market, while liberals lean more towards government intervention. Nevertheless, both value free enterprise.

On social issues, liberals are more for personal freedom, while conservatives favor traditional values.

I am a liberal because I believe that government intervention is necessary to mitigate the inequalities we have in America. There are millions of people who are born with little to no chance of success. By taking money (through taxes) away from the top 1%, the people that can handle the loss the easiest, America can mover closer towards equality by improving education, health care, and security. While it is unfair to tax the top 1%, it is also unfair for people to be in an endless cycle of poverty. I think that fighting starvation and hopelessness justifies increasing taxes. You might say that it is the poors fault that they are in their position, but if you said that you'd be forgetting many of the causes of poverty. For instance, if you grew up with a bad family situation, bad schools, and a bad outside environment, then there is barely any chance that you will succeed. It would not be your fault that you are poor, but the fault of the surrounding conditions. There are some lucky people who are able to move from rags to riches, like Oprah, but for every Oprah there are thousands who due to surrounding conditions cannot escape easily poverty. In the long run, things will equal out, but I believe to it is the government's responsibility to speed up the process.

By the way, I love America and our troops. A Democracy depends on argument—disagreement is patriotic. If you can convince me to be a conservative, I would gladly switch. Once again, I just want what is best for America.

Yes, I am as bad as they say. I'm bad to the bone with a 5th
grade mentality.
I saved every newspaper article ever written about Iraq, Katrina,
Guantanamo Bay, Halliburtin, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter,
Bill O'Reilly, Bill First & Carl Rove. Also, all articiles on the
segregation of the gay community, pending laws on women's
rights & articles from scientitsts warning us about the enviroment.
There are more articles about people who have lost their pensions & about the millions of other people who, because
of a lack of caring by this administration, suddenly have lost or
cannot afford health insurance.
I've saved these articles for reminders in future campaigns.
In 2008, the Bad Liberals with 5th grade mentalities will be in
charge, so I guess you'll have to find someone else to call
a 5th grader. BooHoo for You.

Can you cite some examples of Conservatives using facts, things they cited and you can look it up? There are several thousand posts from them... I haven't seen any? Please refer them to me?

I guess you just ignore all the post that talk about how horrible liberals are with no citation or facts what so ever?

why would someone choose the name Tyler Durden when they are only a pawn of the current society? You may want to watch the move again and again until you actually get it... then you'll probably want to change your name...

Both sides are guilty of mudslinging, namecalling, and acting like pissy little kids.

Are you really basing your opinion of cons/libs off Y!Answers comments? And you want to run the country..

Man you hit it right on the head. Most liberals are the uneducated, welfare, a minority believing they will get special treatment, homosexuals, union workers with hope in false promises ect. So what do you expect in a debate?
