my son just started t-ball but he is left handed

In general, a lefty would use a glove that goes on his right hand. The reason is that you want your stronger arm (the left) available for throwing, which requires more strength than catching.

You need a right hand glove so he can throw with his left hand.

The glove will go on his right hand, but you may not be able to pick one up at your local wallyworld... you will probably have to go to an actual sport store. (Or possible on-line since he's such a little guy)
