I've not only heard of it, I have many masterships in various forms of Reiki and I teach it. I have seen it "work" many times, and also not work. There are complicated reasons why any therapy works or doesn't work, some having to do with the mind and resistance and others having to do with the nature of the illness or problem. But I've seen it "work" too many times on animals not to believe there's something there.

Does Reiki work or exist? That answer I can even proof(!) to you...
What do you do when you hurt your toe? You rub it and hold it in your hand right?
When a kid is hurt or cries, where does mommy have her hand? 9 of the 10 times on the back of the kid near the kidneys.. This gives relaxation..
This is just 2 of the millions of examples.. Everyone has Reiki already believe it or not..
During the centuries humans just forgot how to use it/guide it, but it's still there waiting for you to re-discover..
Reiki classes can help with that...
Some people do not experience anything when Reiki is given to them.. There might be 2 reasons: The person does not believe in it and does not want to except the existance of it. Therefore he/she will block the energy so it will not come through.. (Reiki givers cannot force Reiki on someone ever!)..
Another reason is one I could not explain to be honest, but do experience myself as well.. I am a Reiki master for a few years now and never have experience any feelings with it what-so-ever.. Once I do give Reiki treatments, a lot of people do experience it.. Knowing this plus the fact that a lot of people are helped by it, is enough to convince me it's there..
I must aware you that there's a lot not-decent people out there that pretent they do Reiki and ask big money for a treatment.. All people that have the Usui Reiki will agree that we do not charge for Reiki, only for the time we spend with the "patient"..
A good way to know for sure you're dealing with a good Reiki person, is to ask to see their certificate (it does not mean a lot, but it helps) and ask them if they are connected the Reiki Aliance.. If they are you know for sure you're not dealing with a "con artist".. However this does not mean that some of them who are not with the Reiki Aliance are "con artists".. There are also a lot of good ones out there...
To make things short:
Try it out a few times, goto one of the "open" meetings/introduction days where you can get a little familliar with Reiki for free.. Don't be afraid to ask questions and keep in mind if you don't open yourself for it, it will never work..
One more thing: A Reiki practisioner is NOT a doctor.. With serious issues ALWAYS goto a doctor for it, but Reiki can absolutely help the healing process..
Good luck and if you have any questions, e-mail me.. I'll be glad to help you..

Reiki is a wonderful healing technique. It does not depend on belief, as some people think it does. I have people that I have served who do not believe in Reiki at all but it worked for them. One, a neighbor with high blood pressure who has had strokes in the past. She does not believe in Reiki but when her blood pressure goes into stroke range and her medication is not helping, she calls me first and then calls the ambulance. On five different occasions, the Reiki had her blood pressure into healthy range within the 7 minutes it took the paramedics to arrive. On occasions that I was not home, she ended up hospitalized with medicine taking hours to stablize her. She still tells me that she doesn't believe in Reiki that it is too subtle and she would never go to have it done, but when she is in life threatening stroke zone, she always asks for it and it always works. Reiki is a method by which a trained practitioner channels healing energy and directs it by intention and laying on of hands to the client. The symbols are much like the way a musical note calls one to play a specific sound frequency, they are used to call upon a specific healing energy. They are also a good way to keep the mind of the practitioner focused. Chakras are simply a part of the energy anatomy in the kundalini system as meridians are part of the energy anatomy in the chinese medicine system. They are major energy centers in the body. Most Reiki masters have some working knowledge of this energetic system but it is not specific to Reiki healing. Crystals are crystals. Some Reiki Masters will use crystals in their healing. This is not a part of traditional Reiki training but something that many healers incorporate.

Reiki: The Universal Life Energy.
I believe it works and have had amazing results while using it in my sessions with clients.
My understanding and appreciation of Reiki has evolved over the years I have been in practice.
Each recipient will have their own perception of the modality, it just depends on their own level of awareness.

yes reiki works. once i was having a morning walk with my friend.suddenly her ankle got twisted while jumping. there was an old man who came near to her & told her to calm down & drove her mind from the pain . he starts moving his hand on the effected part & within few seconds she doesnt even feel the pain.
that old man told us that reiki works on mind.

If you are thinking about Reiki as just "another" alternative medicine, it won´t work.
It´s not only that.
I´ve treated animals with Reiki and I´ve seen the results, so i know it works.
Aren´t we all energy, anyway?

If you put your faith in it, sure. Plus depends on the person who performs it. do they believe or just trying to make a buck.
