Absolutely - some samurai swords could slice whole bodies in half so a piece of fruit wouldn't stand a chance!

Both types of swords used by samurai and most ronin were VERY sharp. A coconut would easily be cleaved in two, so a durian wouldn't be a problem; the smell of durian, however, might turn away even the most determined warrior...;)

I think any sharp edged sword would do that. Back home we use a 30 inch blade (a cross between a hatchet and a knife) and use that to do things to coconuts. Tourists love to watch the locals chop the coconut for drinking its juice or slice it open to eat the stuff within.
So i think a samurai may do that even if you kept 2-3 coconuts on top of each other.

Yeah, but if he cut a durian in half it would stink up the room.

Likewise, the coconut would make the room smell good.

Question: How would the room smell if both were cut at the same time?

Yes ! A samurai can cut a lot of things into two or more pieces. You wouldn't want to be the object to test him would you?

an spectacular thank you to wreck your sword, and endanger your self, to boot as all and sundry status close by. A samurai sword (and the different sword, for that count) is made to cut back human beings. it particularly is a sharpened warmth taken care of piece of metallic. it won't cut back stone lanterns, helicopters, gadget gun barrels, or bowling balls. The regulations of physics do no longer replace for swords. ...till, of path, you're speaking some toy bowling ball it particularly is largely a hollow plastic ball : ) Please do no longer attempt it, it may basically lead to tears....
