Most likely it is your starter that is the problem.....the bendix is sticking and you should be able to have it repaired at a starter repair shop for a nominal fee!

a dirty air filter will cause this, also if the plugs have been in there for a while, the gap may be getting a little to far apart, also a dirty fuel filter will cause one to start slow,it takes longer for it to pump the gas up than usual,i own a dodge, and when it gets about 25.000 on the plugs it gets a little hard to start,a good basic tune-up will probably help it.

My dad had the same problem with his 98 Neon. So he brought it to me to look at Ive worked on car for over 20 years and when he told me what it was doin i knowed what it was . You have low fuel pressher and that's why its hard to start. It could be your fuel filter but more than likely its the fuel pump.... By the way it was my dads fuel pump

battery may be dead, or something in the ignition stage. A car uses battery power to get the motor running and gas to keep it running. Try jump starting it. If it works when you jump start it then its the battery, get it replaced

Check and replace distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires and spark plugs.

Also check your battery, and your starter.

I'd recommend finding a friend who is comfortable with working on the car to help you.

Good luck!

When was the last time you had a tune-up? I have a Dodge and that always happens when I need a tune-up.
