Absolutely not. In fact, I think we're more apt to believe someone who denigrates his/her untrustworthiness. A great example from literature is the narrator of a novel by Ford Madox Ford entitled, "The Good Soldier." He's someone who's been completely mistaken in his world-view and tells his story while admitting his shortcomings. By doing this, he (I think the character's name is "Dowell") draws us in.
I think it works that way in real life. The more self-assured someone is, the less likely I am to think that they're psychologically dependable.
The last time someone said "trust me" to me I was shopping for a new computer. I smiled, said "thanks," and got out of there as fast as I could.

I don't know what state you live in, but here in California, "Trust me" has a different meaning. As a statement I usually take it with a grain of salt, as a question of "Do you trust me?", that would depend on who is asking. Family, friends, girlfriend, lover or spouse, I would be more inclined to answer yes, otherwise I wouldn't be with them in the first place. Bottomline? Trust your instincts, they are usually in your best interest.
As far as the last time anyone has ever said that to me, well, lets just say its been years.

It all depends on the person saying "trust me". When I say trust me I really mean it. My ex wife however, used to say trust me a lot. It was one of her favorite things to say, I found out the hard way that she was very far from trust worthy. Some people use it just because it seems like a clever thing to say I think.

Depends on who it is. My daughter, who is very bright and knowledgeable, uses that phrase a lot. However, there are others using that phrase that I wouldn't trust in a million years. This will answer your question, trust me!

Quite often people say that to me!
I put it in the same category as when people say "Quite honestly", before they begin a sentence, and you know that it will be followed by a lie. OR "I don't care what anybody thinks" but... and of course they are worried sick about what people think. I put the "Trust me" in the category

it depends on the tone of voice in which they say it and what they say it about. i mean, the last time someone said it to me was when i was talking about something really serious. i trusted my friend then. but then, another time, my brother said that to me, and i didn't trust him because i could tell that he was going to pull a prank on me.

Ha, if someone said "trust me" I would be less trusting. That usually means they aren't quite sure, but have a good idea..haha..I think my boyfriend Eric last said trust me when looking for a certain lake...hah...I don't think we found it!! He also told me that when he said "trust me" to not trust him@!@@ HA! Awesome question.

Absolutely not. I trust some people implicitly, you don't ask for someones trust you gain it. It's like people who describe themselves as 'whacky' or 'crazy'; guaranteed to be the most boring. average , normal people you'll ever meet.

I have always been skeptical when someone says "Trust Me". Those words automatically set up an alarm to me.
