You need electrolytes in addition to water. Try a slice of fresh lemon in a glass of water.

I have a little saying, "hydration is what you drank yesterday". Maintaining hydration is very important to maintaining all body functions, especially waste elimination. It is a cumulative thing though, if you skip, it is hard to catch up rapidly. I think everyone is a little different in requirements, but for me, I like to drink a big glass of water before bedtime (probably not a good idea for children to do!) and first thing in the morning before coffee. Adding another two before and two after lunch keeps me optimally hydrated. Adding a few glasses of water to a healthy diet can help to keep weight optimal as well, the liver and kidneys get confused when they're running on empty.

If you have been experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea you must replace the electrolytes you have lost. Oral Electrolyte Solution (Pedialyte) is the best thing to drink since the solution is Isotonic. Tap water or Drinking water will replace the liquid lost but it wont replace the Potassium, Sodium, Chloride and Glucose. If you only have mild dehydration drink "Drinking Water". NEVER drink Distilled Water, distilled water is hypotonic and could cause an electrolyte imbalance.

Drink lots of water. If you drink gatorade or powerade, dilute it with water. If you look at the ingredients of most of these products, there is sodium in it, which actually makes you more thirsty. So drink more water than anything else.... Trust me you dont want to stay in the hospital for dehydration..its not fun!!! I have been there about 4 times, and each time sucked.....

First thing in the morning drink a glass of water, and keep drinking it all day. You should drink at least a quart each day. Last thing before you go to bed at night drink water. It flushes the toxins out of your system.
I finally got my 14 year old son to do this recently and his acne has miraculously cleared up ( about 90% anyway).

Water, water, water. Your body is made up of something like 70% water. I have been dehydrated for two weeks before. All I did was sleep and drink water, tea, and gatorade, and I think I would have gotten better faster had I just drank water.

Water is the best thing to drink. Sports drinks are O.K. Stay away from alcohol if you feel dehydrated because it will only speed the process.
