They're the only state with 2 teams, why? Isn't it enough the yankees buy world series wins?

New York isn't the only state with 2 teams. As so many people have pointed out, Ohio has the Indians and the Reds, Illinois has the Cubs and the White Sox, Texas has the Rangers and the Astros, Florida has the Marlins and the Devil Rays, Missouri has the Cardinals and the Royals, Pennsylvania has the Phillies and the Pirates, California's got 5 teams in the A's, Giants, Dodgers, Angels, and Padres, and a case could be made for the Washington D.C./Maryland area having two teams in the Nationals and the Orioles.

If you're talking about the city of New York, they're not the only city to have two teams either. The Cubs and the White Sox both play in Chicago, and even Los Angeles has two teams (can anyone forget the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?), although the Angels play down the I-5 in a completely different county.

And wait, I'm still not done. The Yankees have been throwing money at players for years and yet they haven't won a World Series since 2000 when they beat the Mets.

Dude, check your facts before you start shooting your mouth off.

New York Baseball Teams

They are not the only state with 2 teams; they're not even the only city with two. Other places with multiple teams:

Los Angeles: Angels and Dodgers
Chicago: White Sox and Cubs
CA Bay area: Giants and A's
Baltimore/Washington: Orioles and Nationals

New York has 2 teams because the area is large enough to support them (in fact, it's probably large enough to support 3 or 4 teams).

Conquering New York in one single visit is difficult since is a big city like you will discover with Hotelbye . In New York you will see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and much more. Empire State Building causes it to be worth braving the long lines, steep ticket prices and dizzying levels to see the town from a high this storied building. Built in 1931, the skyscraper may be the second-tallest creating in New York and is one of the most immediate designs of Gotham, so significantly so that it's played a function in films such as for instance King Kong, An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle.

To quote Wedge Antilles: "Look at the SIZE of that thing!" NY, C*, and LA have HUGE populations in their metropolitan regions. Two teams is not an unfair situation; were they each to have only one team, their financial advantages over other franchises would be even more extreme. Philadelphia used to have two teams. So did St. Louis. New York sustained THREE teams for a long, long time. ----- * This just doesn't work as a city abbreviation, does it?

First of all they are not the only state with two teams, California has the Giants, Dodgers, A's, and Padres. Florida also has two with the Marlins and Devil Rays. And the reason for this is that is where the money is. The bottom line for all these teams is where can you make the most money and in New York can supply a lot of money for these two teams.

Because it has a market big enough to support two teams. It used to have three back when the Dogers, Yankees, and Giants all were in town.

Florida is a state with two(Marlins and Devil Rays), Penslyvannia is another (Pirates, Phillies) Texas has two (Rangers and Astros) and as someone already mentioned California has 5 so I wouldn't forget those in your arguement.

Because they are teams from 2 separate organizations. The American League and National League aren't 2 halves of one league the same way the AFC and NFC in the NFL and the Western and Eastern Conferences in the NBA are. One example is the designated hitter thing. It's in the AL, but not the NL.

Note: New York isn't the only city with only 2 teams. There's the Chicago White Sox (AL) and Chicago Cubs (NL).

they are NOT the only state with two teams!! Ohio has the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds.

The reason they have two different teams is because one team belongs to the National League and the other to the American League.

Do your research!
