"Why"
I used to get in trouble with my parents for asking "why" questions when I was younger.
This may not be a real "ultimate question", but whatever the ultimate question is, I promise it starts with "why"
Or.... maybe the ultimate question is "what is the ultimate question?"
Maybe it's our quest for knowledge that is important, more than the actual substance of the quest.

Hmmm...That is a tough one...I have one for all walks of life here...But there is only spose to be one ultimate question...Right?...Well...Oh Shoot!...I guess I will have to say mine then...I can't really think of the ultimate one...But here it goes...When will this war be over and when will my man come home for good?...Ok...That sounded like two questions in one but really it all goes for the same thing...
