Go for smart card swipe/punch options, an electronic system to track all in, out, off, short leaves...movements of employees. There are a lot of private companies/devices/softwares available in the market, each with its own features and costs. Choose the best suited to your requirements.

an economic thrust or brake, will make employees function accordingly.

give them increment when they perform, deduct salary if they fail to perform.

you may bring in a rule for deduction of salary for late coming.

every late coming may cost the employee 1/4 day leave, compulsorily.

2 days late in a calendar month will mean 1/2 day leave and 4 days late coming in a calendar month will mean 1 day leave.

the penalty may be designed in such a way, so that it is not adjusted against any leave credits.

if at the end of the year, you find that they have attended office in time for 9 months out of 12, you may give them incentive of 1 week pay. you must be kind enough to give allowance for 3 months for an employee to be late due to personal reasons.

Dear Friend,

This is Ramalinga from Husys Consulting Pvt. Ltd (www.husys.net)

Your question itself has an answer that you are tracking the time. However please use a simple format of your attendance sheet with time in and time out and transfer it in excel. There on you can calculate the deviation.

However please do spend time in identifying the causes for the late coming and try and address the same. The reasons could be Social, Economical, Work pressure, Interest & ability to adapt to the challenges.

Please do ask for more specific questions to look at a solution.

Regards,
GR Reddy

If you get a time clock, they usually come with their own software.

ask them what times suites you... keep the # of working hours fixed... or change the model to work based than time based....

ask folks in democratic fashion ... to increase profit we want to move to work based model... then who cares of time....
