The Shang Dynasty dates from about 16th century BC to 1066BC, way longer than the Han 206 BC to 220 AD and certainly the Ming 1368-1644.

The Zhou Dynasty which follows the Shang dates from 1066-771 BC...the Warring States Period follows, before unification by the first Chinese Emperor.

The Zhou dynasty was the longest-lived (around 800 years), although most of it's life was spent in decline. It was from the political chaos of the collapse of the Zhou that Confucianism arose, which played a major part in Chinese history (Woot for AP world).

The Warring states period is still considered during the time of the Zhou, as even though numerous Chinese states battled for power, the Zhou family remained as a figurehead.
