every body have their own smartness. if you want to compare which one is the smartest, on what basis would you compare them? Actor/actress are smart in performing actions/art
singer are smart in voice/sound contrl
scientist, mathematicians, professors are smart in using their brain to cme out with an idea.
billionaires are smart in doing business
politicians are smart in attracting people and influence them
law makers are smart in making law that will be fair for people
comedians are smart in making people laugh...(that's nt easy, you know)
doctors are smart in curing diseases....
each type can't take the job of other type and vise versa.

It really depends what your definition of 'smartest' is. I don't think 'billionaires' belongs in the category of things you just listed either.
In my opinion, the best people in the world are the people that save lives. The researchers, the scientists, and the pharmacologists that create the medications we use in our every day lives. I guess that's due to my interest in biochemistry.
Kudos to the people that spend everyday helping the people in need.

The ones who stay completely away from any of the limelight associated with the above... I'd bet the smartest person in the world lives in a cave somewhere in the mountains playing Solitaire all day...

In general, I would say self-made millionares. However, your question needs more limits, a comedian may be smart and clever but couldn't tell the difference between RNA and DNA whereas a scientist may not be able to tell a joke.

well, they are all smart in different ways. though i would say over all, professors. not only do you have to be an expert on what you are teaching, and always keep on top of new info, but you have to be a really good teacher, you have to lead discussions in a way that makes people think, you have to teach people that are intelligent adults. you have to motivate and inspire, it's very hard.
