If we are required to give two weeks notice to employers, why are they not required to do the same for employees? I was wondering because a social services program I work for is shutting down, and employees were given a week and a half's notice that the program was shutting down and that they would no longer have jobs. I have not recieved word at all from my supervisor at this point, but have discovered the information to have been disclosed by her to other employees, as well as formal announcements made to clients. Any information of laws concerning this situation would be helpful.

Do you have a Union to represent you? If so, contact them. Otherwise, I would suggest the Bureau of Labor Relations, or some agency that deals with workers rights.
Good luck!

If you are fired, you can ask your employer why, and your employer must tell you in writing why you were fired within 15 days.
