The time before you start dating depends on you. Some people are ok after a couple months, some, who usually come out of bad relationships, are not ok after several years.

No. We are social beings and not meant to be alone. A want for intimacy is totally natural. May I suggest getting to know this man prior to introducing him to your daughter, regardless of her age, for many reasons that as a mother you already know (pediphile, sponge, does he have kids and if so does he pay child support? you know, regular lazy-***-men stuff like whatever the reason you left the last man)
