Kids will call names but if you continue to do your thing, most of them might get bored with picking on someone who doesn't seem affected. I know I had a similar experience.
I was never called Emo or anything but I went to a school where anything not Hip Hop was considered "corny" or "white". I don't think the kids ever really knew I was into rock music because I didn't get the chance to tell them but they were always baffled when I didn't know what song they were singing.

Well, if you don't want to be called something, don't dress or look the part. That would be like a guy running around in girls' clothes complaining about being called a transvestite.
Even better, you could not give a crap, but not looking the part is easier for most people to pull off.

Hip hop is crap. You know how they make a deal out of it? Get a few VERY good friends, 2 or so, and make a big deal out of classical music... inverse of hip hop. Try it, I had the same problem--- and I WON.

it's only high school, trust me. it's almost over.most of these people will either be knocked up & on drugs (if they are not now), by the time YOU graduate. get your education. stand your ground. they are just jealous you actually use your whole brain & you are not a follower. i have been through it. tell them hip hop sucks now anyway. there is no one good out now. or just tell them you listen to japanese music, throw them for a loop. it worked for me.

"Do you cut yourself?" "Not on purpose." "Do you hang out in cemetaries?" "Sometimes-you can get some really excellent tombstone rubbings."Just try to make friends with somebody who looks nice. If they ask why, tell them they looked interesting/nice/cool. Besides, isn't it a bit silly, staying separated because of musical differences?

don't let them know that it bothers you. if you ignore them they will get tired and move on.
something Else you can do is listen to hip-hop once and a wile and get used to it.
or you can talk to them about it and ask "why do you keep calling me Emo? i really don't appreciate it, please stop."

If these are your friends, dump them, they are followers and morons. You sound like you are independent and that takes courage. Find friends that actually matter.
